The basic humanity of Goren and Eames carries through their criminal investigations, unlike the cold scientific logic that every detective from Sherlock up to Mike Hammer and Tom Seleck. Rockford and Monk and all the rest were comic book characters. Whether these two were elaborate concoctions or not.... does not matter. Every second they were on the screen was interesting and believable.

This was one of the best... It was short and direct without characterization
