Soooo...I avoided getting hyped up for this movie cuz I wanted to be surprised. I already am a fan of female superhero protagonists and I like how in these sort of movies you can really feel connected to the characters even though you have zero superpowers and a threat level of “low to none”. But honestly...it didn’t quite feel like there’s enough element to connect to. The movie isn’t bad, I really want to like it. But I think there’s an irony about the main character in how she is supposed make you feel versus how you actually feel. Like how Captain Marvel is supposed to be “emotional” but you can’t really feel the emotions she’s supposed to have. There’s no anger, no bursts of joy, no sadness even. Just cockiness that still kinda feels unconvincing. I get that they have to make her seem invincible and all too powerful to defeat Thanos but I guess they just didn’t get the formula right, like in other Marvel movies. Although there are definitely parts where it feels satisfying almost. Maybe it’s poor writing or poor execution, I don’t know. I love Goose though, him they got right. Overall, I’d say 2.7/5.
