When Gwendolyn Brooks lectured at my undergrad university many years ago, I bought this book. Years later, I memorized it and performed it at a church event. This book is not just meant for kids. I love it. The words reflect who I am. I still have it as a treasured memento.

This movie is commendable for telling us about the massive Armenian genocide, a Holocaust that is often relegated to a few paragraphs in our world history books. Yes, some of the storytelling is predictable. The lead actors are believable, especially Oscar Isaac. This movie did not have a predictable happy ending reminding us that life is sometimes filled with painful and unavoidable casualties. I love that sense of fight and triumph that brings the story to a hope-filled ending.

It kept me interested the whole time. So many delicious rhythms and melodies. The sights and sounds are so arresting! I saw this movie years ago when it first premiered. At the Cedar-Lee Theatre, my all-time favorite Ohio movie spot. Why? Some movies were not just movies there. They sometimes became an "Experience!" "Stop Making Sense" definitely lived up to that expectation. It is still worth seeing today. Yes, I am planning to see it again. Especially since I just saw "American Utopia" yesterday on HBO. It is a full-blown sensory "Experience" too!
