This movie demonstrates how hard it is to make a living in a foreign land and the difficulty making a living in farming in general. Some people do not realize how hard it is to learn a new language. In the beginning, Jacob was dismissive of the local custom of "witching" a water well, but in the end he saw the wisdom of the procedure. Things don't go as planned. So what are you going to do? Pick up the pieces and start over. This film had superb acting and interesting characters, especially the Korean War vet.
