I am nearly at the end and had to pause it. It is very well done and Javier Rey is excellent. This role must have been exhausting for him. It is violent in parts and very very long. It's also difficult to get to grips with, story wise because it seems to repeat so many scenes. I have 44 minutes 18 seconds to go and I am struggling to continue to the end because it is traumatic. Having said that, I got this far because I was intrigued by it. I love Spanish dramas because I am learning the language, so it is good for me. I love Javier Rey as well, which helps! Right, now I will continue for the last 44 minutes!!

I have just finished watching series 2. I absolutely loved it all. The fabulous set, the costumes, the plot. Apparently this is based on a true story! That makes it all the more interesting. The acting and production is fantastic. I am in awe of Mustafa. Wow! What a brilliant actor to sustain such a masterful performance. I actually fell under his spell. I also adore dressmaking so it has inspired me to find some beautiful silks and get sewing. I feel a bit speechless to be honest. I could watch it again, easily! It brought out every emotion. Superb.

Very disappointed. I was really looking forward to this film, especially as I teach music theatre and grew up with the 1961 film. I found Ansel Elgort boring and the acting in general was quite 'laboured' for the most part. I felt that Ansel hardly changed his facial expressions, even when he was meant to have found true love, he didn't really look over the moon! Maria was lovely and far more credible, as was Anita and some of the gang members, but the best part for me was when Rita Moreno sang ' Somewhere'. Now that had atmosphere and I felt a connection. Other than that and of course the fabulous music and dancing, I wasn't impressed. For younger viewers, I am sure this will be a 5 star rating, especially if they haven't seen the original film.
