I've known people who always play the victim and never take responsibility for why bad things happen in their lives. The female in the movie was no victim, just a lesson in "when keeping it real goes wrong". Enjoyable movie other than everyone were a**holes so you can't really pull for any of the characters. Russell Crowe would have been more likeable if he didn't want to hurt the kid.
