This movie is spot on in every way. From a stellar cast totally suited for their roles to the message this movie tells if only people would "get" it. You could not get a more "natural" bunch of people interacting with one another in the attempt to wake up the masses in this heart touching film than the 5 star actors and actresses chosen here. No one outshone anyone else as they were all brilliant in creating a totally thought provoking "truth". I was going to say story...but no...this is truth. This film...is not about Indians exchanging souls with wolves. Although their magical spirits do intertwine based on the respect the Native people have for the animals and the almost human-like souls of these majestic animals. No..it is about what we as an entire human race have done to massacre any species we can get our hands on. And for the most part...humans don't care. And is wrong. We have killed off species for the sake of something as laughable as called sport. But is not funny atal. We have moved in on the territories of countless numbers of animals...and if they stand in our way...we either kill them or herd them into little boxes much like the Native people...so we can continue to steamroll our way over every bit of beauty on this rock hurling thru space. Then we act shocked when anything or anyone fights back. We truly do not know what is out there. In my town for example...one never used to be able to hear the coyotes howl so close to the river...or the new development properties on the edge of town. Is one of the reasons I stay home at night. We pushed them back to make room for us...and now they creep forward..to thrive...to survive...to get back that which was everything to them. No one knows what lives in the rubble of the deserted parts of...anywhere really. From cities...to the towns we create and then abandon whilst destroying more homes for our four legged creatures. And is not just there. People wonder why sharks swim so close to beaches lately...in retrospect...they are just taking back what we squatted on. Their homes. I always cry at the end of Wolfen...all due to the fab performance of Albert Finney as the deep in thought police officer who even though everyone round him has been killed for lack of knowledge...when finally confronted with the wolfen and thinking things thru...shows the animals he "gets" why they are doing what they do. It won't stop everyone else from attacking the beautiful animals (and I do feel bad for the lost souls they kill to survive when not protecting their home) but...you can see in their eyes the raw emotion when 1 human opens their heart and shows they understand. It is a powerful film done in a powerful way with a most powerful message. And I hope more people will "GET" it. I also hope they do not do a remake as we all know it just will not be the same and I do not think they could get the same point across or the raw emotion...with anyone else...and definitely not with over the top CGI or robotic animals even though I am a diehard animatronic lover. Is perfec...just the way it is--Faith Honeybee Setley
