Disappointing considering its provenance. The serialisation spreads the storyline a bit thin and the characters are either stereotypes or one dimensional wannabe mafiosi. Predictably Stabler's boss is a waman, of colour and lesbian persuasion no less and his nemesis is as clichéd as they come with every affectation associated with evil, narcissistic mob boss posing as successful business man. The background of making everything a modern trope and all characters a blend of good people in bad circumstances or outright baddies gets tiresome as does the 'racist cop' narrative. I've seen Christopher Meloni as some terrific characters( SVU, OZ especially) but he is so much better than the material he's being tasked with in this. I blame the writing and format requiring the storyline to depend on weekly cliffhangers and implausible, convoluted plot lines. I ploughed through the first series but, without changes, I won't watch again. Bloody shame.
