This super energetic rendition of West Side Story kept true to the original but with the wonderful addition of Rita Moreno's role as drugstore owner Valentina (instead of Doc in the original). I was thrilled that Leonard Bernstein's music was so beautifully expressed through a remarkable cast of actors/dancers. The choreography was sensational as well as its style of filming and it makes me realize we need more big-screen versions of musicals like this -- chances to experience theater that most people will never have the means or opportunity to see. Spielberg's over-the-top production should be a huge recommendation to young folks, especially in these highly polarized times.
