My cousin is having her first baby (a boy) in June, and I'm making her a baby book. I wanted to add a poem for the book, and that's when I found this. I added the whole poem in the book, and I added this last line at the end, "You're the most precious gift God has ever given us!" This beautiful book is gorgeously written, and it's the perfect gift for someone expecting their newest little eddition. 100% recommended.

Perhaps the greatest show ever made! After going through a tough year, The Chosen was definitely needed. I thought it would be a huge success (which it is), but I didn't expect this to be a global phenomenon! The Chosen, unlike other productions based on Jesus, actually makes you feel like you're with Jesus and the apostles. Not only does this show remind us to always have faith in God, but it also teaches powerful life lessons. If you haven't seen this masterpiece, this is the perfect time to. And one more thing, you better "Get used to Different."

In this magical story, a young Princess (her name was never revealed) meets an enchanted King, who was turned into a polar bear by a wicked witch. The Princess must fall in love with him to break the spell. Sound familiar? It's the Norwegian version of Beauty and the Beast (this and Disney's take were both released in 1991). There's nothing really scary about this movie (aside from the Witch, but she's not as scary as you think). The main message of this movie is to accept people for who they are on the inside, and that anyone can make a difference. The Polar Bear King is rated G and I think it's perfect for little babies and up. It'll cast a spell on anyone who watches.

I have exciting news for all you Olympic fans! Izzy's Quest for Olympic Gold, which was lost for over 25 years, has finally been found! In December 2020, a young man (I'm not saying his name for his privacy, but I'm sure most of you know who he is) found a VHS tape recording while he was helping his parents clean the garage. He uploaded the whole special (with the commercials) on YouTube! So if any of you never saw this special (like me), you can now watch it. And let me assure you, this special will never be in the shadows ever again! And you all have that young man to thank!

Michelle, Gina and Amanda went missing when I was in kindergarten, and they were saved when I was wrapping up my Sophomore year of High School, a total of 11 years! I don't really remember this (but my mom does). I haven't watched the movie (it's too disturbing for me), but I have watched news coverages. These three were treated like caged animals, and they should've spent those 11 years with family and friends. Ariel Castro is pure evil. But thankfully he's in Hell where he belongs! I'm happy Michelle, Gina and Amanda are enjoying their "new" lives, and I wish the best for all of them.

Looking for great movie with a powerful message? A Smile as Big as the Moon fits the bill. Mike Kersjes is a high school special education teacher. He treats his students with love and respect, almost as if they were his OWN children. The special needs students are bullied and abused at school (one girl was TERRIBLY bullied) by the other kids. But Mike will not allow that behavior at school, whether it's one of his students or not. Mike and the students all share one thing in common: their love of outer space. When he invisions the kids living their dream of going to space, the other teachers and faculty dismiss him. But he proves them WRONG! After learning that this movie was focused primarily on special needs, I was a little concerned. But Hallmark handled the topic AMAZINGLY! This is the perfect family film. It's beautiful lessons of teamwork, acceptance and faith will win you over!

Not as good as Don Bluth's Anastasia (which was released during the same time), but it's still worth watching. I know lots of you think this is a "rip off" of the other movie, but then again, they made LOTS of movies about Anastasia (one was released in 1956 starring Ingrid Bergman, and Don Bluth's is almost IDENTICAL to that movie). The characters were lots of fun, and the soundtrack was fantastic (my favorite was "In the Sun," and I'm sure it was yours too). My only complaint is the movie is only 40 minutes, and it should've lasted about 70 minutes.

One of my all-time favorite Christmas Classics! I sometimes watch this as early as July (for Christmas in July). It gets me ready for the Most Wonderful Time of the Year! Ralphie wants nothing but a Red Ryder Air Rifle for Christmas (my uncle had one when he was a kid). But everyone (including the Mall Store Santa) just tells him "You'll shoot your eye out!" And who could forget the film's trademark object, the "Leg Lamp Major Award." Your DVD collection will not be complete without "A Christmas Story." You won't stop laughing everytime you watch this.

This movie SCREAMS Rock and Roll! One of the most popular shows on the Broadway stage has been brought to life on the big screen. From young romance to hard rock, this movie has something for everyone. If you grew up in the 1980s, this will be a throwback for you. But just know that there's a good chunk of nudity (women wear bustiers exposing their abdomen, Stacee never wears a shirt under his jacket, etc) and there's the ocasional profanity, so this movie earned its PG-13 rating. While not appropriate for kids, this is a great pick for ages 16 and up. Let me warn you, these songs are 100% earworm worthy, and you won't stop singing after this.

Most of the Peanuts specials are filled with nostalgia, lightheartedness and laughs. Because of that, I wasn't expecting THIS special to go this direction. One of Linus' clasmates, Janice, is diagnosed with cancer (to be more specific, leukemia). When she's well enough to go back to school, Linus is the most supportive. He even straightens up a boy who bullies Janice (and the boy apologizes shortly after). This was definitely one of the darkest, and most emotional, Peanuts specials to be broadcast. But don't worry, it ends happy. At the end of the special, Janice has successfully recovered from leukemia, and she happily swings at the playground with the other kids. They did a fantastic job introducing cancer to kids and families. Ever since it's original airing on NBC (I think), critics and viewers have praised this special for addressing cancer in a straightforward way, but still being gentle enough for kids to learn about the disease. If you or someone you know is battling cancer, now's the perfect time to watch this. You'll feel so much better.
