In an Oscar worthy performance, Rami Malek portrays Freddy with exuberance, depth and dignity; with the unique combination of innocence and flamboyance that defined his genius...
The critiques so far have been subjective in a sense that it was or wasn't the film many wanted to see... but it is the film it is, and what's there is extremely well executed, from the cast's portrayals, to the witticism of the writing, to the spot on direction... Queen's story is intricate and layered, and trying to jam it into 134 minutes is a challenge that was lovingly handled.
Some things had to be edited, condensed etc. but overall, and importantly to a new generation - that filled the packed theatre last night - and applauded afterword (something extremely rare in cinema these days) who hadn't the privilege to witness the majesty of Queen and Freddy in real time, this is a worthy intro to one of the greatest bands from one of pop music's most significant period's. It is NOT to be missed!
