In a world where anime adaptions continuously fail to leave the shadow and express their own creativity as a separate identity.
One Piece rises from the mistakes of previous remakes and sour to recreate the world of One Piece in western filmmaking.
This adaption managed to translate the manga and anime material into live action perfectly. The characters, props, setpieces, and the worldbuilding help add to the amazigness of this adaption. Thanks to the cast, direction, editing, and everyone part of the production crew.
Some of my problems however are in it's plot, I get it that no one wanted something as long as the anime or pacing wise, but 8 episodes is just too short for something like this, I'll let it slide since the east blue saga doesn't have much in its story but the Alabasta saga better have 3-5 episodes more.
tl:dr One Piece is a perfect example of a Live-Action remake done right, it has differences from the original that makes it stand on its own feet. This is elevated by its production value (characters, setpieces, and action). Tho, this package is just too short to enjoy the entire ride.
Though, this gives me excitement for the next season and the adventure that awaits in Drum Island and Alabasta.
