The film's trajectory shifts so often, it's impossible to keep up. In some awful way, it's like Dee Rees and Marco Villalobos were sitting in a tropical hotel room, drinking rum punch, with plot elements in a circle on the floor. Rees and Villalobos spun a bottle and whatever the bottle pointed to, Rees and Villalobos dropped into the script. The film offers an amazing group of actors who never stood a chance up against such dreck.
