for some reason, this movie (and the book especially) doesn't have the best reviews- though personally this is one of my favorite stories of all time (again, the movie and the book). i watched this movie because of my obsession of andrew rannells, who played darren, and was not expecting a lot. but within the first 15 minutes of the movie, i was on full alert and the movie kept me guessing and on my toes until the very end.
normally for thriller movies, you watch them once or twice and they lose their appeal, since you already know what happens. but it's different for this movie, in that you pick up new things with each time you watch it.
in addition to the story aspect, the soundtrack for this movie was very well chosen. there were many french songs, and although i don't understand a word of french (except bonjour and baguette :D), i truly feel like the songs chosen matched perfectly what was happening in the movie, and somehow captured both stephanie's and emily's vibe. it was also fun listening to the romantic, elegant sounding language as french songs are not often used in american movies.
last, the casting choices were excellent! anna kendrick is perfect as Stephanie and i could not imagine someone else playing her. same with emily- i felt like blake lively was a little too clean cut for the dark and bad girl emily, butboth executed their roles very well.
