Alastair Sim gives one of the most brilliant characterizations of Ebenezer Scrooge ever performed. For me, his performance is definitive. His quicksilver transitions and perfect transformation underscores Dickens sentimentality perfectly. While some performances of this role may be marvelous, his, I believe, it truly the best in a long line of Scrooges past. In addition, the script of this piece is both skillful and faithful to the intent of Dickens' story. It is the perfect Christmas Carol. Mike Champagne
