As with all book adaptations don't get to caught up in the comparisons. The core group of characters was well cast (Paul being perhaps the most important). Not sure if they where aiming for a just sequel or a trilogy but the movie ends (spoiler) a little more than half way through the first book. It's understandable it's a lot to cover... Overall a good watch.
