I wasn’t sure if a biopic was necessary for Whitney’s life as there are so many excellent documentaries are around and as i grew up with her and being a massive fan what more is there to know.. There were moments in this movie I did get tingles ..for me the filming of The How Will I Know clip .. but this was because for me it kindled a treasured personal memory ..The movie in itself was ok but for me hugely let down by the casting .. Whitney Bobby Brown and Whitney’s mums characters were odd fits for me . The lead actress just didn’t carry the grandeur of Whitney but then I ask how on earth could this feat be possible . If that was the actresses voice then she did amazing with that . To me I think the themes were too rushed and jumped about too quickly . I didn’t learn anything new about the connection between Robin and Whitney and by all accounts wasn’t it Whitneys mother who was actively homophonic .. wasn’t Whitneys mother harbouring resentment of her daughters success eclipsing her own ? The decline of Whitney to drugs did not really go deep as to how haunted by it was touched and then we moved on . I would much rather have had Whitney’s real performances in this in much the same way the movie slipped in real footage of Kevin Costner and Oprah Winfrey ..overall yes one not so much the fans but maybe people from the next generation who know little about one of the greatest singers ever ..
