I thoroughly enjoyed this film as a piece of social history and a change from the fast paced action movies with overediting and short, noisy scenes. This moved along at the pace of a '40's and '50's British movie with excellent actors using their acting skills to give every moment an insight into their character. It is not often one can watch older actors make the most of what is centred around a limited backdrop. The film was condensed into a short time period but struck a chord with me as someone brought up in the 1950's and visiting relations who were bedbound and restricted physically and emotionally. It reminded me,also, that in the 1970's I turned down the chance to buy a small Lowry drawing in Southport for £200.
