I really enjoyed the performances by the three main characters. The dialogue was so natural and flowed so easily, that I felt like I was eavesdropping on their private conversations. Stan’s character Frank was the embodiment of a “bad boy” struggling to do the right thing, all the while looking at Woodley’s character Daphne like he wanted to devour her. Dornan expertly portrays “good guy” Jack. He’s stable, attentive, honest, and seems genuinely infatuated with Woodley’s character Daphne. Their relationship is believable, and comfortable, and I found myself rooting for them. When the inevitable happens though, I was unsettled by Dornan’s character Jack’s long term reaction. I didn’t question his decision regarding his relationship with Daphne or Frank, but felt it went against his character to walk away from the situation entirely.
