I give shows like Twin Peaks, Game Of Thrones, Umbrella Academy and Wayne five stars just to see where I'm coming from.
This show totally surprised me. Started watching because I was making dinner and remembered Christina Hendricks from the short-lived underrated Firefly. Ended up binging the first season through dinner, into the evening and wrapped up over breakfast because it was just intriguing enough to keep me hooked. Didn't even think I'd need to go into season 2 but I'm sure glad I did.
Season 2 is where the underlying hints of risk-based consequences takes a dark turn while maintaining a combination of absurdly humorous situations and morality-questioning plot twists.
I don't think the writers would have succeeded had the trio of Hendrix, Retta and the hilarious Mae Whitman, along with the supporting cast, not done such a fantastic job of portraying how hasty decisions can blur the line between right and wrong. The directors and producers, using the writing and acting, especially in season 2, deserve the most credit here. Their choices of scene order and music manipulate viewers into rooting for the underdog, good or bad.
I expect I'll move on to season 3 if the pace maintains. Five star shows are few and far between.
