Outstanding book by a classic early American author. The story brings to life the tragic Exile and Expulsion of the Acadians (cajuns if you choose). The story follows the tragic treatment of people by another group of people. It seems that these happenings have appeared throughout history-Man's Inhumanity to other Men or Women! People do not have to be a different color ,Just different and Vulnerable. It seems as if People just Love to take advantage of other People and mistreat them, enslave them, or steal their property and/or their resources. The Bright spot is realizing that some people(s) can survive, adjust, and even triumph Look back to those tyrants of Babylon, Rome, Hitler, Stalin, Pol Pot ,, or the Taliban or Al-Qaiada. History needs to help us overcome these Wretched Dictators. An informative, educational entertaining book that is still pertinent ;and surely will continue in the future. Tony nicholson
