Michelle Dockery. Michelle Dockery. Michelle Dockery. I never thought I’d marry again, but if a beautiful woman like her appeared on my doorstep asking if knew how to break horses in (I obviously can’t to my eternal shame! The bloody things terrify me!) I’d say ‘Why yes mam! You betcha!’ and immediately join the Pony Club of Great Britain for a crash course in the general aspects of the skill! (Can anyone advise on the cost of those natty riding helmets you see them wearing when wining gold at the Olympics?) On a less serious note, this an absolutely amazing series. It has everything - in spades. The attention to detail is quite extraordinary and you will learn a huge amount of early American history by watching this. (And with all due respect, possibly come to understand much about the character of the country as it is today? And to think they were only getting started! Heavens above!) The wonderful qualities of this series have already been described by previous reviewers - and I wholeheartedly agree with them all, so I don’t believe I need to test your patience by repeating them here.
But if you haven’t seen Godless, you just MUST! (A few minor niggles; thirty or so of the naughty chaps originally hit town for the final showdown. If you’ve got half an hour to spare, see if you can count the number that are seen getting thwacked! I gave up around 532. And why no reference to any black members of the cast in the credits on google? They were all tremendous and really added to the story) Congratulations to all involved.
