I hate to say it, but it stumbled and fumbles what could have been a fresh, sleek and visually stunning showcase built on good storytelling. Unfortunately, it's awfully unoriginal with terribly realised characters and plot and reveal that's not just meandering but condensing to its viewers. The heart of it, the lesson that's meant to be taken from the show's bricks-on-the-head message is "the rich are evil and are selfishly dooming us all for the sake of their wealth's legacy, the patriarch is vile, technology is anti-humanism and AI is a Pandora's box that, because it's pioneered by rich men, is sure to be just as cold, abusive and oppressive as its creators while imparting these same evil lessons on children and throwing humanity into a never ending cycle of abusive sociopathy. . ."
It's awful in it's lack of naunce as well as it's attempt at making a righteous character out of protagonist that's clearly suffering from some kind of dark, depressive mental illness while all the same being a pretty awful human being and supposed "detective". In one outrageous scene, she takes it upon herself to confront a mother about her son's paternity while before hand being explicitly told the mother has no idea the father of her son is not the man she thinks it is - and she does this in the boy's bedroom while he sleeps mind you. The protagonist is played as this champion of woman but is clearly willing to insert herself with zero sensitivity in matters that do not concern her and for the sake of what? No reason at whole other than to shock the mother.
All in all, it's not worth the trouble, which really is a shame because it's gorgeous to look at and the folks in charge of set and location as well as the camera crew did a good job - but the script, the story heing moulded, the characters we're supposed to like, are flat, uninteresting and frustrating not to mention self-righteous. It's has nothing new to say nor does it say it well at all. The villain is only the villain because he's an awful, ill-tempered, abusive and controling person and apparently this is enough to pin an evil AI's actions on him. Incredibly dim-witted stuff.
