I fully understand that a movie adaptation of a book has to change for the sake of the medium—some things do not translate well visually—and I feel like The Hating Game movie balanced the main points of the book really well with the changes they needed to make for the sake of it being a film. Yes her eyes were green and not blue, but they kept the plot where he painted his walls the color of her eyes, and that's the most important part. The point is that Josh loves her, not the specific color. So I think they did their best and I genuinely really enjoyed the entire movie. It had the essence of the book I love, the chemistry was great, and Lucy Hale was the absolute perfect actress for Lucy. I absolutely loved it and hope this starts a revolution of contemporary, spicy romance novels being adapted with this level of quality!
