Dull and boring. Heaven knows why the hype.

Does not match the hype surrounding it. Frustratingly slow at the start. An hour in and it started to get interesting where the back story eclipsed the present day. Fragmented and structurally not good.

A dark and gloomy tale of a woman’s past and the pain she suffered impacting her day to day life giving her nightmares that never go away. Then to find that the man responsible for all this lives locally. Revenge is on the cards!. Interesting premise. Interesting story potentially. Interesting characters. But for me let down by the artificial ending. Totally spoilt all that had gone on before.

Great performance by Sally Hawkins. I was lost at times but I think perhaps because of the character’s journey. Will be interested to find out more about the background of the film, the inspiration for, etc.

It’s difficult. It’s always so easy to criticise and there is so much to like in this film. So when you make comments you have to be careful and encouraging even if you hated the film - which I did not. If I’m honest I did not care enough about the central character and her sexual awakening and coming of age journey. If I had I might have felt differently. For me it’s story first film second. I felt the opposite with this film.
