The Chronic 2001 album Review. The Chronic 2001 is the second studio album by legendary producer, rapper and Hip Hop mogul Dr Dre that was released in 1999. The Chronic 2001 is a follow-up to his 1992 debut album The Chronic. What's more important, quality or quantity? That question has been debated over and over for many years within music circles and after all this time, one thing is certain: when it comes to Dr Dre quantity doesn't mean a thing. Dre's debut album, "The Chronic", was released in 1992 it is considered one of the best hip-hop albums of all time. When you debut with an album of that nature, fans want one thing and one thing only; another album. The Chronic 2001 was a long awaited follow-up to Dr. Dre's debut and it also helped revitalize the West coast hip-hop scene and reinvented the genre. They say sequels are never as good as the original, but this album puts that statement to shame. Fans were clamoring for another album, and Dre didn't disappoint. Still D.R.E. is the lead single of the album, and it is easily one of the best songs of all time. This track features Snoop Dogg, it has one of the best beats I've ever heard and that catchy hook. But it was the second single Forgot About Dre that brought a lot of attention to this album, the beat on Forgot About Dre is perfect in my opinion with it's smooth bass line, guitar plucks and strings. Dre spits about his past accomplishments he also got after some of his critics who thought he just didn't have it anymore. But as good as all that was it was the rapid fire hook by Eminem and Eminem's verse that really got people talking about this song. The other singles from this album includes The Watcher where Dre raps about he's seen it all and how Hip Hop has changed. Then the fourth single The Next Episode is just a club banger where Dre, Snoop and Kurupt spit some really cool verses and Nate Dogg singing the hook was just classic stuff man. But aside from these singles the whole album is on point. This album is a classic!!! The production on this album was classic back then and I think it still holds up now in 2024. You can still bang this anywhere. This album is fun, introspective, violent, gangsta and educational all at the same time. This album is a timeless classic. It stood the test of time, still comes off pretty damn fresh 25 years later and it doesn't sound dated for the most part. My rating for this album is 10/10. I highly recommend!

Justin Timberlake plays it safe throughout the whole album. Trying to fit in with the current trends he ends up sacrificing quality that doesn't pack an artistic innovative punch like his first two albums did. More of a throwback album that could've been better executed. There's nothing wrong in trying to recreate past glories, but what's lacking is vision and imagination to create that! The novelty of the songs wears off quickly that doesn't stick with you nor standout. It's a bloated album with directionless music that's just made to appeal to his target audience. The lack of risk taking results in one of his most mediocre efforts that feels devoid of personality and growth as an artist.

Legendary album! No skips!!! The production is so monstrous and captivating. It borders a little on nostalgia while still keeping things fresh and interesting. This album is stuffed with so much talent that everybody gets to justify it by spitting some of their best verses I've never heard before. Dr. Dre knows what goes into making a cohesive, brilliant and entertaining album.
