It’s very poor historically. For example, it treats the ‘underground railroad’ not as a metaphor it was, but as a quite real technical contraption. The images of slave states it shows are also mostly far from reality. They all should be more or less like Georgia the heroes are running from. I understand that the subject is very traumatic for modern America, but in fact this show makes a very poor job of showing it, devaluing both the tragic black experience and the role of people who operated the real road with risk to their lives.
