At first I thought this was going to be your typical Will Ferrel movie like Step Brothers, or Elf, and the trailer kinda pointed in that direction. Yet we get a different movie that actually points it in a different direction. We actually see Will actually singing to a degree. Not the usual off key stuff we usually see. The movies does have some Will Ferrel humor mixed in, but after you peel that back. We actually get a story about Lars and Ingrid (Will Ferrel and Rachel McAdams) of Fire Saga a band from a small town in Iceland. That has a chance to make there dreams come true to represent Iceland in Eurovision after a freak accident leaves them as the only option. Lars (Will Ferrel) who is oppressed on winning the competition over doses it to the point where there performances become disasters. Making them a laughing stock of the competition. Yet there singing and and music is actually very good. The movie is also very heartwarming, but in your typical Will Ferrel fashion. A few bumps in the road test there relationship, and how they feel about each other. At the end we see the true potential of Fire Saga with Ingrid ( Rachel McAdams) singing a song that actually gave me goosebumps while listening to it. Yet loose the competition, but in the end they both win as they both fall in love with each other. The movie is a good watch, and would watch again. As the movie did go down a different path that many other Will Ferrel movies go down.
