OMG!!! I had not expected anything but the usual run-of-the-mill biopic from this movie. I went with two of my friends to see it in a theater in Bangalore. We sat spellbound from the beginning until the very end.
The only sad part is that movies in India usually have an unscheduled intermission to allow the patrons to visit the concession stands, do their toilet business etc. This thoroughly spoils the continuity of the movie and I was upset when they had the intermission at a critical juncture of the movie.
As for me, I was riveted, lost all sense of time and space. The movie had energy and passion right until the credits disappeared from the screen. It showed a side of Freddie Mercury that is not universally known even to most of his fans. I actually shed a tear or two.
The music was galvanizing and you could not but listen to it without swaying in your seat. The finale of the movie at Wembley Stadium was an awesome experience.
And, to sum it up, my friend who had heard of Queen but not much of their music says to me after the movie. "I am now a convert. Thanks for taking me to see this movie"
