Critics don't know what they're talking about. I know saying that the gate keeping critics are clueless is such a trope that it's almost pointless to say, but the saying couldn't be more accurate with this show.
I went into the show with low expectations, and very little knowledge of the source material. I haven't read the books, and I only have a few hours of The Witcher 3 logged in Steam. It's a great show overall. I did have a few gripes, but taken as a whole the show is fantastic. Sure, there was a bit of SJW race swapping, but the actors did a good job. Triss going from a red haired white woman to a black woman was a bit jarring. For some reason shakey cam is used at the weirdest times, like one scene where an immobile actor is looking at something but the camera shakes like it has Parkinsons. The change from darkly lit scenes to bright scenes, then back to bright scenes with no transitions got tiring on my eyes watching the show in a dark room. The ending felt too abrupt. I get that there was a lot of material covered through the episodes, but the end felt really curt. My last complaint was that of tone. Some episodes felt like they would have been more appropriate on HBO or skinemax, and they didn't feel the same as the other episodes in theme or tone.
I would still recommend watching the series to anyone that likes fantasy. I'm only pointing out things I didn't like in Hope's that the show runners will read the comments and do a better job next season.
Netflix needs more quality like this if they don't want to be buried by Amazon and Disney. Thank you for making this!
