I liked this movie, but it frustrated me. Hear me out.
This movie had so much potential that it's mind-blowing. Yash's performance is off the charts, just perfect. The direction is excellent; you can feel the 80s in the movie. Most of the cast was pretty good.
And this movie had my favorite background score of the year; it was so freaking amazing! The score in the uplifting scenes just kept giving me goosebumps throughout.
Also, Kudos to the DOP. The visuals are very very good.
But this movie is very frustrating. With the impeccable talent and tons of swag making you sit at the edge of your seat, this movie had some incompetency that was a huge disappointment, especially when you know this movie has the potential.
Main reason: the editing was so bad that it's hilarious. You can barely see any action with one punch taking about 7-8 cuts. It's so distracting in so many areas. It also gets you confused about the plot. And there were some unnecessary scenes with like 5 seconds that make no sense to the narrative and break the flow of one scene.
The editing was abysmal. -_-
Secondly, the heroine's role is so bad. My god it's bad. You're extremely invested in the story and they include some unnecessary scene of her, which reminds you about a relationship that was just there for formality. Should have given her a better role or not interrupted better scenes.
I'm giving this a 3.5/5 for awesomeness in the movie that makes you feel like Rocky is a freaking superhero. But I'm disappointed because this movie could have easily been a 4.5 or even 5 with some decent editing.
