Great gameplay and art design. But a woefully unsatisfying story. You can’t have a character kill one of the most loved figures in gaming history and then expect players to care about them. The game spends about 12 hours trying to bribe you into loving Abby, which is an unrealistic goal. I understand that sometimes characters die to drive a plot forward, that’s part of story telling; however, no amount of “playing fetch” is going to make a fan of these games root for Joel’s murderer.
The critics are just trying to be controversial. Good game, but so much less than the first one, and Abby is one of the least likable characters in recent gaming history. Do better in part 3, give the fans what they want.
