People sometimes say it's not like a normal horror movie, but in a lot of ways it is a pretty classic horror plot — the difference is just that it's very skillfully made. But it's definitely very scary, and doesn't go in for any cheesy clever gimmicks, just a good creepy story and a lot of suspenseful scenes.
