Terrific potential gone waste due to a cliched plotline. What initially promises to be a juicy whodunnit soon turns out to be a predictable track.
Inconsequential subplots ( like the one with the dacoits) and underutilized talent of supporting actors are other let-downs.
Anil Kapoor,s restrained act and Harshvardhan Kapoor,s sincere performance are the plus points, though how one wishes AK had also shown some restrain in mouthing the MC/ BC expletives at the drop of his gun. Totally unnecessary.
The best part of the movie is its top notch cinematography with some languorous but breathtaking panoramic shots of stark landscapes and dizzying drone shots of the rugged Rajasthan terrain. The background score - reminiscent of Hollywood westerns- is cheekily juxtaposed against the desi ambience and surprisingly effective in uplifting the scenes.
The parting long shot of the jeep riding in the sunset is nothing short of a masterpiece
All in all, THAR turns out to be a dry affair with only it's cinematography being the occassional thirst quencher for the movie goer.
