I'm not a huge fan of superhero movies. In fact, I've only ever seen one or two superhero movies aside from Shazam! Without a doubt I enjoyed Shazam! more than any of the marvel superhero movies I watched, and I think its simply because this movie doesn't take itself super seriously. The marvel movies I saw were serious, and there was comedy but not a lot of it; they were more focused on emotional and edge of your seat drama than on having fun. That's where Shazam! is different. Shazam! was a fun movie, it's funny and light hearted and enjoyable while also packing a few emotional punches and having some edge of your seat action. You leave this movie feeling good, uplifted, whereas with most other superhero movies I've seen you enjoy it but theres always a lingering feeling of doom at the end, you never go away with a laugh or a smile. Shazam! may be a more family friendly film, but it's no less entertaining and no less enjoyable. It really is fun for the whole family.
