Not surprisingly, but I sure never thought about it much, there, of course, were many Nazi sympathizers still in Germany many years after the war. This film, which I must admit is very gutzie for the Germany Film industry to make, is very well done and very well acted. The character actors were all extremely well chosen for each of their parts.
I just wish that Herrn Fritz Bauer did not smoke so much in the film. It makes me want to get a smoke also.
Finally, this films brings forth a rather deep question on what to do with enemy leaders and their loyal soldiers after a war is over. It is a difficult question to answer. Certainly convicting a former C-camp guard who is now in his 80's and sending him to prison, as Germany recently did, is not the answer.
Anyhow, a very engrossing film.
