Reference Tuesdays show with Robin Roberts interviewing Liam Neeson:
It appeared to me the actual topic that Neeson was there to tell was how consumed he became with “revenge” of a black man that attacked a very close friend. Roberts reported the story line about Neeson’s racist feelings toward black people and how it made black people hurt (she points to herself) when they hear him say that. Neeson stated clearly, if the man had been white, he would have felt the same way, but Roberts continued with the black racist theme. It appears to me in this story that Roberts personalized the story because she is black, when the story was clearly about REVENGE, not RACISM. I watch this show daily & weekends and she has done this in other stories, but I bit my tongue & let it go. After Tuesday, I couldn’t remain silent. It’s my belief the news reporters on this show and everywhere are there to report the news & facts & not interject themselves in the story or personalize the story to make it about them. If one notices, Michael Strahan, George Stephanopoulos and other GMA reporters don’t personalize or inject themselves into the stories they report. I believe there is racism in this world, unfortunately, but I also feel that some of the people charged with bringing the public the news, make news stories about racism when in actuality, it’s about a totally other subject, such as what Roberts did Tuesday with the Neeson interview.
Just a personal observation/feeling.
