This game is good, but as of writing (27/08/2020) this game is straight up just.. Nooooooot finished.
The pacing is a little all over the place, and the graphics take their sweet time to load in. Moving platforms jitter around making it hard to tell when to jump on them and mouse camera sensitivity is way too high. You cant change the buttons for certain actions nor can you change mouse settings, and sometimes the models just decide that the hair and clothes will act like they were animated in MMD. When i enter the sewer all it takes is for me to choose a room and suddenly i cant see anything but the buttons in the top left. The story is okay, but i really expected more from the trailers and such, and as stated before the pacing is a little strange which made it hard for me to love it.
The art style is amazing, as is the character design and OST, but due to the graphical weirdness i described before it can sometimes be fuzzy and at one point a friend mentioned one of the backgrounds straight up looked like a hL1 map as it didn't load in the models and graphics in time to actually see them.
Tldr:
If you can get the game on sale, i'd recommend doing that instead. Since its newly released i hope that it will get bug fixes and patches coming out soon, maybe some DLC to fill in some lore, but right now it's not worth the price of £40
Pros:
- Art style and character design is on point
- OST is amazing and i will be listening to it more
- Decent price compared to other games
Cons:
- The more you play, the more it feels like you're beta testing
- With the glitches and pacing it feels more like the game should be around £25
- The game lasts maybe 4-5 hours, which doesnt feel like it can justify a £40 price tag
- Even the CREDITS didn't load in for like a solid minute or two
- Sometimes the lip sync just completely gets skewered.
- Feel like the protags (Mayday and Zuke) Didn't get much in the way of backstory. Zuke has some past events mentioned, but Mayday is a complete mystery. I feel like they could mention at least how two people who seem complete opposites could have met at least.
