If you're a fan of the book or seeing the movie with no point of reference, I believe you'll find the movie bland. The book is a fascinating read but the movie was difficult to follow or understand the dynamics of the relationship between the Marsh King and his daughter. Iwas left wanting and felt the whole movie could have been so much better. I wish we'd gone to see something else. What a waste of time and money. It moved along a a decent pace and the acting was very good but the story was confusing and dull. I was left saying, "meh."

A poignant drama that mesmerised me from beginning to end. It's positive and inspiring. I went with my 86 year old Mother and she turned and said, "Wow." when the credits rolled. I believe Brendan should get an Oscar for the brilliant acting.

I simply won't ever understand critics. I loved this story. It was touching and held a ring of history where women either were protected or vulnerable. It didn't shy away from the horrors that occurred to the poor, the unprotected and even children. It offered a poignant tale of finding value in the downtrodden and justice for them too. I loved the message that everyone deserves love and no one is beyond redemption. The message is clear. God's love is beautiful. Hope is nothing without faith. I certainly wouldn't take a family to this film but it has a beautiful message, even for adults. I didn't know this was a Christian story but, it was filmed beautifully and moved effortlessly. I was captivated and moved by the story. I can't imagine how it could have been done any better. Truly a beautiful message.

This movie was the most tediously slow, anti-climactic show I've seen in years. The plot veers off to underwhelming, unnecessary side plots. It skips needed explainations for the flow and character development. Don't waste your money or time.

This film is about an Afghanistan interpreter trying to get his family out of his war-torn country by helping American soldiers through interpreting for them. Amed, the interpreter, tries to inform the group that something is off but is ignored, leading to all except the main character, John, and Amed being killed. Amed then risks everything to help John return to his base from deep inside the country. Amed does not get the promised visas, leads to his, his wife, and their baby going into hiding. John goes back into Afghanistan and rescues them. The story is gritty, suspenseful, and inspiring. I was on the edge of my seat through most of the show. It was an amazing film that Americans should see, because we failed to honor and protect those who helped our soldiers.
