Maybe I have gotten to old to enjoy "coming-of-age" stories. But man, was this a cringe fest.
I appreciate that the story focuses on the mysterious lady of the lake character, but it annoys me that she was given such a stereotypical character arc. The Arthurian lore is mystical and helped inspire epics such as Lord of the Rings, however, the show Cursed instead seems to be filled with cliches and flat/predictable characters. The escort scene where the Green Knight and Arthur fights over who should protect Nimue was overflowing with cringe and is also a scene that has been done to death. These kind of cliches continue throughout the story and takes away from the elements that actually were good.
This show gets one star for its beautiful scenery. The visuals really look amazing. It gets a second star for Skarsgårds portrayal of Merlin.
For me to get invested into a second season the show really needs to improve its writing. It is not too late to make Nimue an interesting character instead of the spoiled brat she has become through uninspired character development.
