This film's got a very specific voice: an older, black, plus size woman in NYC. And that is a voice (or voices) we need to hear. But the film has a universal appeal. We all deal with lonliness, professional frustration, grief, paying the rent while keeping our integrity intact....So don't be scared off if you think the premise is not for you. This film can be appreciated by anybody. It's very funny too.
For a debut film it's remarkably well-made and beautifully shot in B+W. Funny, sad, cringeworthy at times, I have to say this is a film that actually might have made me a better person for having seen it. Or at least gave me a lot to think about.
