I had to stop reading and close the book. I worked in Ontario’s Foster Care program from mid 80’s to early 90’s as Foster Care Coordinator. We tried so hard to do it right. Most foster parents accepted this responsibility seriously, some probably to augment their income. If they did it successfully it didn’t matter. The kids would test their patience, steal, abuse, push the limits. Most parents held on. It’s an extremely difficult, frustrating, sometimes rewarding job. I admire their efforts. We all tried to do it right. I’ll go back to the book and try again.
