Not funny enough to be a comedy and not dramatic enough to be a drama. I tried to like it but failed. The actors did their best but the script was just too heavy and clumsy. On the plus side the look of the show was delicious with costumes, sets and scenery all lush.

I loved the weirdness and Hudson singing 'Memories' was magical. It did feel like a series of ultra well played bits rather than a cohesive whole but the world feels like a better place for this film being in it!

Saying Gervais writes comedy is like saying Aretha Franklin sings soul music. Understatements so big they are laughable. Afterlife is intellgent, sad, funny, thought-provoking and ends too soon.
