I saw the Broadway musical 4 times. Sensational! The movie, however, is tediously boring, time confused and 100% non-sensical. The worst groaner is when the struggling bodega worker gives away a $96,000 winning lottery ticket to an immigration lawyer to aid 1 teenager. Just smiles about it, no regrets. Doesn't ask the man's fee. Doesn't even ask for change. Everyone has a 2021 type of cell phone and they are texting yet the movie is set in 1982 during the time of the NYC black-out. in a courtyard crowd scene a man is soaking his feet in a kiddie wading pool. Except that there is no water in it. Was it that hard for the props department to pour some water in the pool? Don't waste 2 1/2 hours of your time on this fiasco unless you feel a need to punish yourself.
