I was told that this was a 'classic' but while I had read it some years ago it has not WORN WELL. The concept of three middle class unattached Englishmen venturing out on the Thames for a 'camping' trip up river has merit but even the introduction of Montmorency as his canine company did little to attract me!
Humor's styles and tastes have indeed changed since the 1880s!
A Classic it may have been once. but now what was meant to pass as witty now after a diet [ perhaps too many] of many humorists in too many genres just palls!
