It's a nice movie. I watched it on 11th August, didn't get time to write a review till now. It's the story of a capable guy who became a thug because of his father, but who himself has more principles than the average man. This can be seen from the beginning when he makes men marry girls without giving dowry, even if it seems a thuggish action, it's with a good thought in mind. Later, this becomes even clearer when he feels that he's not good enough for the girl he is in love with and tries to marry her to someone he thinks more deserving. The climax, both of emotion and the drama of the movie comes when he realizes that girls whom he got married without dowry were not really happy in their marriage because of their husbands' attitude, that anything done 'jabardast' does not bring happiness even when that's the intention. This realization is a beautiful message given by the movie, a rare example in Hindi cinema to address the issue of dowry and forced weddings. The movie respects elders and their concern and protectiveness regarding their child while simultaneously showcasing their misconcepts that often challenge their child's happiness without such intention on their part. And the confusion of youngsters, their desire to live life according to their wishes while desiring to satisfy their parents and fulfil their wishes at the same time and the resulting desperation they experience is depicted quite well. Altogether this is a movie with a message, and a very meaningful message in our times today where so many of us still experience the horror of dowry demands and the resulting stress and worry of girls' parents and unmarried girls. True, they have made it a cheerful movie with good music, lot of masala scenes and perhaps rather thuggish language at certain instances, but I can't help but appreciate the filmmakers for choosing such a relevant and sensitive topic and depicting the characters in such a way that people can relate to them, both kids and parents, and for bringing out the inner message subtly and yet so clearly that can inspire people especially parents to think and take such an attitude regarding love and marrying with love. Thank you for this movie, I really appreciate the message you wished to give society and hope that an immense change will come in society's attitude towards marriage and it's meaning. And for the viewers, I will say this, we promote so many movies, why not promote one with a message? By meaning, it's beautiful and by content, it's quite fun. If you are looking for casual fun this month, and not with a hypercritical eye, and you enjoy good music , colourful surroundings and would like to see a cute rom-com with a light heart, Jabariya Jodi is a really good watch and what's more, it comes with a beautiful message
