Gunjan Saxena is a really inspiring female figure. And considering the flair for feminist stories, it is a brilliant story to build a documentary on since she is the only IAF woman to have served in the Kargil War.
The acting of Janhvi and Pankaj Tripathi are really good. And rest of it is also fine if only it was projected under a fictional character name.
But this is not a documentary. In fact, it is a far cry from the real story. Nearly all events of importance and appeal are fictional. None of it ever happened in real life.
When one takes a real-life character and cinematizes it to the point it becomes fiction and throws the eminent institutes of national importance in the wrong light. Not only is it a national embarrassment, it is a national disgrace. And I am using strong words here.
The process for selection of cadets, the interview process, the document requirements and everything else is projected in a wrong light. In services of eminence such as this none of these mishaps ever happen in real life. The Indian MIGs being shot down, Shaurya Chakra being granted to Gunjan, none of it ever happened. The IAF prejudices and preferential/biased treatment to the females is all untrue and unfounded.
Cinema driven by dramatization and cinematization of real life stories to the point of fictionalizing them should be discouraged.
Sincerely urge to either stop making movies of fiction using real life character names or do a better job at projecting the real stories.
