After watching again I realized that the characters where acting based on what we would perhaps say subconsciously . It’s as if the actors were coming from a place of their ID , meaning what would we really want to say if we had no inhibitions, no emotions. I think the movie really captures that for example ...We would ask questions like “ do you have armpit hair?” or do physical actions like sucking on a surgeons fingers ( I know it’s crossed someone’s mind ) or sing without any emotions in front of stranger if we only acted on our ID . We would want to inflict pain on someone who hurt someone we loved. I understand why the director wanted the actors to act in this certain way now.
The movie takes an unconventional approach towards an extremely difficult situation ... death of a loved one... and removes all feelings from it . Yet, at the same time this movie does nothing but evoke feelings . It’s genius.
