An excellent production with a splendid cast all of whom contribute to the story while the use of a lot of close-ups allows the director to highlight the feelings of the characters as the story progresses. David Thewlis makes a very believable Inspector while the very able cast make this performance into a fine rendering of Priestley's masterly morality play. The external scenes take nothing away from the unfolding drama in the comfortable surroundings of the Birlings' household although I would have been more comfortable without the additional graphic scenes near the end but all in all a fine effort enhanced by suitably atmospheric music.
