It has to be 5 stars. Bernstein's musical composition - genius. Sondheim's lyrics - genius. The musicians - talent beyond compare. The casting - superb. The cast - oozing charisma and dripping with ability,, style and totally believable. The adaptation - brilliantly unPC correctly and shockingly reflecting the time of the setting. Correography - outstanding. I liked the film and unusually for a remake I think it surpassed the original. Should be a slow burning classic. Production - well Spielberg keeps teaching us....
